The Bootcamp Launch: Wins, Lessons, and What’s Next

It’s the morning after the very first MomUnity Bootcamp, and let me tell you—I am still riding the high! The energy, the vibe, the sheer determination of the all the superstars who showed up despite the rain trying to humble us? Nothing short of electric.

It’s Sunday morning. Hubby and the boys are still knocked out, but I’ve been up since 4 AM, fueled by excitement, SORE MUSCLES, and the burning desire to capture every bit of this experience before the chaos of the busiest week ever begins.

The Wins: More Than Just a Workout

We did it! After weeks of planning, reaching out, and spreading the word, the first-ever MomUnity Bootcamp came to life—and it was nothing short of magic. Seeing everyone from all backgrounds come together, sweating, laughing, and pushing past their limits was a reminder of why I started this in the first place. We had new moms, old moms, twin moms, students, colleagues, champs with little feet and EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN!

  • The turnout? Better than I could have imagined.
  • The energy? Through the roof.
  • The sense of community? Unmatched.
  • The rain? An uninvited guest who didn’t stand a chance.

There was something about us pushing through the drizzle, refusing to quit, that made the whole experience even more powerful. If that isn’t a metaphor for motherhood, I don’t know what is.

The Lessons: Because Every Win Comes With Wisdom

While I’m still basking in the success, I’d be lying if I said I didn’t learn a few things along the way.

  • Lesson 1: Always have a rain plan. The weather app played me. I will not be fooled again.
  • Lesson 2: Moms are superheroes, but hydration is key. Between cheering, jumping, and carrying babies, we need those water breaks!
  • Lesson 3: Community is everything. Watching moms encourage each other, hold each other accountable, and celebrate every milestone was the most rewarding part of it all.
  • Lesson 4: Don't overthink it! I spent the last 5 years daydreaming about the concept of a bootcamp, without actually actioning it. I knew what I wanted it to be like, but in hindsight I was more focused on the bells and whistles than the actual thing. It happened, almost painlessly. And I kept waiting for it to fall apart.
  • Lesson 5: Your gift makes room for you! Whether you know it or not, your gift will always make room for you. It will always wait for you. Mostly nag you like the South African Mosquito Association in the middle of summer! But it will make room. The plot twist is that you may not always have the capacity to see it through because we grow, we age, and things change.

What’s Next: Keeping the Momentum Going

This is just the beginning. The launch was a success, but now comes the real work—keeping the fire burning. More sessions, more support, more ways to uplift and empower each other. The vision is clear: MomUnity is more than just fitness. It’s a movement. And Move we shall!

And while I brace myself for what might be the busiest week ever (because let’s be real, life doesn’t slow down for wins), I’m holding onto the joy, the lessons, and the beautiful proof that when moms come together, there’s nothing we can’t do.

If you were at the launch— THANK YOU!!! I can only hope the event was all you had hoped for and more. Tell me, what was your favorite moment? And if you missed it, don’t worry… this is only the beginning. Let’s keep moving, growing, and thriving—together.

Signing out,

Mrs Mom

(Still thinking about how to add Coach to it to make it sound cute)

Balancing Motherhood and Career: Lessons from a Civil Engineer Mom

Hey, lovely soul! 🌸 Welcome to my first post on The In-Betweens ! I thought there’d be no better way to kick things off than by diving into something that’s at the very heart of my life—balancing motherhood and career. If you’re anything like me, you know this balancing act feels more like a daily juggling show, with no shortage of dropped balls. But somehow, we keep it all in the air, right? For those of you meeting me for the first time, I’m Tshenolo—a mom to two little ones, a wife, and a civil engineer. Though I haven’t worked in the field since August 2022, I’ve transitioned to part-time lecturing, which means I spend most of my days at home. This shift came from a strong urge to be more available for my family while still staying connected to my passion for teaching and engineering. Between managing toddler tantrums, lecturing, and trying to sneak in some creativity through podcasting and video creation, I’ve learned a few things about how to keep my sanity intact while na...

Stop Waiting for the Main Event - You ARE ALREADY IN IT

For the longest time, I believed I was living in “ the in-betweens. ” You know that space...the awkward gap between who you are now and who you hope to become. I used to imagine myself sitting in a cosmic waiting room, clutching a ticket, waiting for my name to be called into the Real Story. But lately, something shifted. Maybe it’s wisdom, maybe it’s exhaustion, or maybe it’s the bedtime storytelling adventures of my five-year-old. Whatever it is, there’s a new truth echoing in my heart (and making it race a little): The in-betweens are the main event. The Tangent King and the Mismatched Shoes Every night, my son creates his own wild universe. He’ll start with a brave dinosaur, then veer into a jungle, detour to the moon, introduce a magic cupcake, and somehow end up fighting bedtime, if he doesn’t doze off first. Half the time, I’m listening. The other half, I’m trying to anchor him back to the original plot. But here’s my confession: I have to know what happens to the...
